Behind the name ZU500TST -W is a 3D-DLP projector by Optoma, whose main features include 5000 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 300000:1 and a WUXGA 1920 x 1200 resolution. With its built-in laser light source, the projector achieves a manufacturer-stated lifespan of 20000 hours. Daily use of 4 hours makes an operational lifespan of over 13.7 years possible. Thanks to the combination of optical lens shift and digital keystone correction, the projected image's position can be adjusted very flexibly. The Projector Calculator helps find the optimal installation dimensions. Looking at practical performance, up to 718 cm can be illuminated with 5000 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 479 cm. For media input, video signals up to 1080P as well as 3D are supported. An additional 360° projection capability allows the device to be oriented at almost any angle. Thanks to MHL support, screen content from mobile devices can be transmitted via cable, including charging power for the device. The model is perfectly equipped for complex installations: In addition to the RJ45 jack for network administration, an HDBaseT port is available, transporting high-resolution AV signals over a single Cat cable. Equipped with a microphone jack and built-in speakers (10W), audio signals during presentations can be played back directly without an external audio system. In the specifications, the operating noise is listed at a mere 28 decibels, indicating very quiet cooling. The projector was released in 2018 and is officially no longer distributed by Optoma.
