As a projector, the Optoma DX550 combines DLP technology with a resolution of XGA 1024 x 768, and is additionally specified with 2600 ANSI lumens and a contrast of 3000:1. According to Optoma, the included lamp lasts up to 5000 hours – mathematically sufficient for 6.8 years based on two hours of use per day. A look at the light output reveals: The 2600 ANSI lumens are sufficient to illuminate an image width of up to 444 cm in darkened rooms. If room light is present, we recommend not exceeding a maximum width of 296 cm. Regarding signal processing, the model is compatible with incoming 1080P content. A look at the data sheet confirms a very subtle fan noise for the projector at just 30 decibels. Since entering the market in 2011, production has been discontinued; the manufacturer no longer actively offers the model.
