As a projector for the Homecinema sector, the Optoma HD230X is equipped with 2300 ANSI lumens, a HDTV 1920 x 1080 resolution and a contrast of 4000:1. According to Optoma, the included lamp lasts up to 3000 hours. A look at the light output reveals: The 2300 ANSI lumens are sufficient to illuminate an image width of up to 487 cm in darkened rooms. If room light is present, we recommend not exceeding a maximum width of 325 cm. Regarding signal processing, the model is compatible with incoming 1080P content. This model dates back to 2012 and is no longer part of Optoma's current product range. In our projector directory, the device still generates high interest.

I previously had anAcer Acer H5360, which I was very happy with. However, the Acer H5360 developed pixel errors after about 10,000 hours of use, so I had to get something new.
I can say: the HD230X is a much better projector than the Acer H5360.
The colors are brighter, the picture is even brighter overall.
It‘s a Full HD projector, the HD picture is a bit sharper than the Acer H5360, although it also produced a nice sharp picture.
Our 3 children, my wife and I have never seen a rainbow effect.
Like the Acer H5360, the HD230X never needs to be dusted, which I found totally annoying with a previous Hitachi LCD projector and the dust was also inside the device and visibly worsened the picture. That‘s the biggest advantage for me in comparison with the Acer.
Now I‘m curious to see how long the lamp and the device will last. I can already say this much: the lamp produces a bright picture over a long period of time. With the Acer H5360 it was the case that the new lamp became noticeably weaker after about 1000 hours of operation, from then on I could no longer stay in economy mode, then the Acer was still noisy, that‘s not the case with the HD230X, the lamp keeps the luminosity longer.

P/L looks good
Picture always looks very sharp and bright. Colors are always displayed well. The high light intensity makes it possible to see and recognize everything even in rooms that are not well darkened. On my 160cm x 90cm canvas, I have no problems adjusting the sharpness, it‘s even everywhere
The only real criticism is the strong rainbow effect. But this is not a new problem with DLP projectors.

The 3rd projector in my house.
Strengths:
- high light output
- great colors
Weaknesses:
- strong rainbow effect at high contrast
- bad installation option.
- bad lens, you don‘t get everything
sharp, if you have it sharp on the left the right corner is blurred and vice versa.
