Based on DLP technology, the Optoma EX551 projects images in a Standard-Portabel environment, with technical specs listing 2800 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 5000:1 and a XGA 1024 x 768 resolution. According to Optoma, the included lamp lasts up to 5000 hours, which amounts to roughly 6.8 years at 2 hours of daily use. Looking at practical performance, up to 461 cm can be illuminated with 2800 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 307 cm. Regarding signal processing, the model is compatible with incoming 1080P content. Regarding noise emissions, the model proves to be exceptionally quiet during operation, producing just 28 decibels. The projector was released in 2011 and is officially no longer distributed by Optoma.
