The Benq W8000 is a 3D-DLP projector that brings 2000 ANSI lumens, a HDTV 1920 x 1080 resolution alongside a contrast of 50000:1. The manufacturer specifies a runtime of 2500 hours for this projector's lamp. Both optical image shifting (lens shift) and digital keystone adjustment are included, enabling exact alignment on the screen. Thanks to the interchangeable lens system, the device can be equipped with optional lenses to react flexibly to different room sizes. Exact values for specific rooms are provided by the Distance Calculator. A look at the light output reveals: The 2000 ANSI lumens are sufficient to illuminate an image width of up to 454 cm in darkened rooms. If room light is present, we recommend not exceeding a maximum width of 303 cm. Regarding signal processing, the model is compatible with incoming 1080P content as well as 3D. The built-in HDMI-MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) port enables screen mirroring from a smartphone while simultaneously charging it. This model dates back to 2016 and is no longer part of Benq's current product range. In our projector directory, the device still generates high interest.

I had a quick look at the new BenQ W8000 and immediately fled from the demonstration because of all the rainbow flashes. I had expected a bit more for the price - too bad.

Device is only average
BenQ has announced the W8000 as the first home cinema projector with interchangeable lenses, but Vivitek already has an identical device, the H5098. Although the device has a slightly different housing, the specifications are otherwise identical. The BenQ W8000 will not be much better than the Vivitek H5098 in terms of picture quality, so let‘s see which one will be cheaper.

Attention old device reissued!!!
The new BenQ W8000 is simply a reissue of an old device. In 2006, Optoma presented the HD87 with 3 interchangeable lenses to the public and now the manufacturer BenQ is bringing the old device out of the woodwork and giving it a new color wheel, and even talks about real glass lenses in the data sheet and that at the price? Anyone who has ever bought real glass optics from a photo aperture knows that the optics are not real glass at this price, so the consumer is clearly being hoodwinked here, once again nothing new from the DLP faction. It‘s really a shame, because the old HD87 was a really good projector, so wait again....

Super device with great colors
We were able to test the device extensively yesterday and were absolutely thrilled with the performance of the new W8000. The device offers sufficient brightness, great depth of field and, thanks to the newly tuned color wheel, brilliant colors.
