Behind the name W20000 is a BrilliantColor-DLP projector by Benq, whose main features include 1200 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 20000:1 and a HDTV 1920 x 1080 resolution. According to Benq, the included lamp lasts up to 2000 hours. An integrated lens shift provides significant leeway for placement. The lens can be adjusted to perfectly align the image even with off-center installations – exact dimensions are provided by the Distance Calculator. Looking at practical performance, up to 352 cm can be illuminated with 1200 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 235 cm. In terms of video signals, the device processes resolutions up to Full HD 1080P. Regarding noise emissions, the model proves to be exceptionally quiet during operation, producing just 28 decibels. The projector was released in 2007 and is officially no longer distributed by Benq. This model continues to hold a solid place in our database search queries.

I received a W20000 on January 29, 2008 as a replacement for my W9000, which had broken several times. The first thing I noticed was the extremely high in-picture contrast, which creates a 3D effect that makes you shudder! The projector is really great. Quiet, bright, very high contrast, good presets (compared to its predecessors) and has really good colors, but unfortunately there are also a few negative things to report. The lens is very sharp, but for an RRP: € 7990.- projector it is very poorly made, as the adjustment rings feel as if they are about to fall out. Furthermore, the distance to the screen has increased once again, which could certainly cause problems when setting it up. Brilliant Color is of little use, as the noise becomes unbearable. The absolute black level is no better than that of my old W9000 when set to optimum
Despite the negative points mentioned, the projector is a real gem. However, the price is not reasonable. In my opinion it would be worth about
€ 5000.
