Based on SXRD technology, the Sony VPL VW95 projects images in a High-End Homecinema environment, with technical specs listing 1000 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 150000:1 and a HDTV 1920 x 1080 resolution. According to Sony, the lamp has a durability of 3000 hours. An integrated lens shift provides significant leeway for placement. The lens can be adjusted to perfectly align the image even with off-center installations – exact dimensions are provided by the Lens Shift Calculator. Regarding projection size, the value of 1000 ANSI lumens allows for an image width of up to 321 cm in darkened environments. In rooms with ambient light, the image width should be correspondingly reduced to a maximum of 214 cm. In terms of video signals, the device processes resolutions up to Full HD 1080P as well as 3D. For integration into professional environments, an RJ45 connection is available for network control and remote maintenance. In the specifications, the operating noise is listed at a mere 20 decibels, indicating very quiet cooling. The projector was released in 2011 and is officially no longer distributed by Sony. This model continues to hold a solid place in our database search queries.
I‘ve owned the Sony VW95 for a few weeks now. I looked at the JVC X55, Mitsubishi HC5, Sony HW50 and others, but then decided on the Sony VW95. Thanks to its high-quality lens, it also has a super-sharp picture without any electrical aids. The colors are set almost perfectly ex works. The fan is almost inaudibly quiet. All in all, for me it is the best projector in its price range. For me, there is currently only one projector that is even better and that is the big brother of the VW 1000, but it is also in a completely different price range.

My best projector to date
I‘ve now also owned the Sony VPL-VW95 for a few weeks. Before that I still had the Mitsubishi HC-9000A.
Comparing the two, they are almost on a par in 2D picture. The Sony is slightly more vivid and achieves a better black level. In 3D, however, the differences are enormous. The Sony‘s picture is much brighter behind the glasses than the Mitsubishi. But mine is still calibrated to the original colors and has even fewer ghosting artifacts." I can only say that with the Sony VW95, I‘m really enjoying 3D again. Because relatively dark movies like "Avatar" or "Tron Legacy" were no feast for the eyes with the Mitsubishi. The Sony (3D brightness set to max), on the other hand, can compete with our best 3D cinema (Dolby3D) in 3D (2m picture width).
The Sony is also better in zoom behavior and last but not least has a lower running noise.

Very satisfied
I have owned the VW95 for about 3 weeks as the successor to a VW50. There is
little to complain about. The 2D picture is beyond reproach and 3D...well, I still think it could be improved. Especially the brightness. But that‘s not why I bought the projector. The competition can‘t do any better and
development will certainly continue in this area.

This is the best 3d picture from a 3d projector
I‘ve had the Sony VPL VW 95ES for two days, I‘m totally thrilled. I‘m already very spoiled by the picture from my EPSON 5500, but what the Sony 95es conjures up on the screen in 2D and 3D mode is simply brilliant.
