The hardware properties of the VPL FX51 manufactured by Sony include 5200 ANSI lumens, a XGA 1024 x 768 resolution and a contrast value of 700:1. According to Sony, the included lamp lasts up to 2000 hours. For distortion-free image alignment, the projector offers both a lens shift function and keystone correction, granting significant leeway during mounting. The optical system is designed for the use of interchangeable lenses, allowing for a tailor-made configuration for almost any throw ratio. The Distance Calculator is available to calculate the exact dimensions. Regarding projection size, the value of 5200 ANSI lumens allows for an image width of up to 628 cm in darkened environments. In rooms with ambient light, the image width should be correspondingly reduced to a maximum of 419 cm. As an additional feature, an integrated media player enables the direct playback of files without an external source device. For convenient remote monitoring and administration, the projector is equipped with a classic RJ45 network socket. Since entering the market in 2002, production has been discontinued; the manufacturer no longer actively offers the model.
