This projector is named VPL CS5, originates from Sony, and its data sheet shows 1800 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 300:1 and a resolution of SVGA 800 x 600. In operating mode, the installed projector lamp offers a lifespan of 2000 hours. A look at the light output reveals: The 1800 ANSI lumens are sufficient to illuminate an image width of up to 369 cm in darkened rooms. If room light is present, we recommend not exceeding a maximum width of 246 cm. This model dates back to 2002 and is no longer part of Sony's current product range.

... no reference picture... I‘m surprised that it‘s so well represented in the top 100... loud if that bothers you... otherwise rather no chance against current 800x600 devices from Epson e.g. - price performance in the high-end range there is only one device for me: Mitsubishi HC 4900 and nothing else... quiet, incredibly good picture, comfortable and often available as an exhibitor or used for less than 1000 euros with few operating hours... I‘d rather have a Mitsubishi HC once than an XY for 300-400 euros every few months and then off to eBay because I have something to complain about.

sony vpl cs5 my opinion and my question
good day,
own model sony vpl cs5.
positive:
small, light, nice design, easy to use, very good for projecting still images or slow-moving images (even films). slow-moving images (including films), low power consumption, very economical (lamp 2000 hours), great black image values, no special darkening of the room necessary
negative:
high noise level (43db), poor resolution with fast-moving images (football broadcasts etc.).)
my request:
look for a projector that guarantees a good image resolution (contrast, sharpness...) when watching movies as well as football broadcasts,
it should also be much quieter, but not completely darken the room, in terms of economy only the illuminant needs to be considered (maybe about 2000h?),
I would be very happy about opinions, tips and experiences.
