As a projector, the Sony VPL FX30 combines LCD technology with a resolution of XGA 1024 x 768, and is additionally specified with 4200 ANSI lumens and a contrast of 2000:1. The manufacturer rates the durability of the included lamp at 4000 hours, which amounts to roughly 5.5 years at 2 hours of daily use. Regarding setup flexibility, the model features an optical lens shift function alongside digital keystone correction, allowing for precise alignment without distortion. A major advantage for professional installations is the ability to use interchangeable lenses, allowing the projector to adapt to highly varied projection distances. Which optic is required for a specific case can easily be calculated via the Projector Calculator. Looking at practical performance, up to 564 cm can be illuminated with 4200 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 376 cm. For media input, video signals up to 1080P are supported. This model dates back to 2010 and is no longer part of Sony's current product range.
