Based on LCD technology, the Sanyo PLV Z4 device delivers 1000 ANSI lumens, a resolution of HDTV 1280 x 720 and a contrast of 7000:1 as a projector. The manufacturer lists the lamp life at 2000 hours. For distortion-free image alignment, the projector offers both a lens shift function and keystone correction. The amount of leeway the lens provides can be checked in the Distance Calculator. Looking at practical performance, up to 321 cm can be illuminated with 1000 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 214 cm. In the specifications, the operating noise is listed at a mere 26 decibels, indicating very quiet cooling. This model dates back to 2005 and is no longer part of Sanyo's current product range. However, it remains frequently searched within our database.
We‘ve been using it every Friday for a movie for 12(!) years now. Always in eco mode, cleaned the filters from time to time, pressed the thermal switch inside once. Now - for the first time - we‘ve given it a new lamp (Ruby, ~€130) and had to press the thermal switch again. Let‘s see if it now lasts another 12 years. We had already looked at alternatives, but we need the Lensshift, it doesn‘t need to be brighter and 3D is superfluous for us. We are happy with the device.

Lamp replacement
The device has been around for a few years now. It has always performed well up to now, but now it is just so that the images shown in the projection are no longer correct in terms of color and become blurry. This is no longer acceptable for black and white images. Let‘s see what the customer service says. Lamp replacement probably around € 200.

Hammer
Bought it second-hand with just over 1000 lamp hours and I‘m thrilled. The picture is amazing at 2.50m wide and I really wouldn‘t have thought so given the 7 years the device has been around. I can only recommend the device and it is very quiet, the previous owner bought a Full HD projector from BenQ for 700€ and was totally disappointed with the volume. The room should be darkened for the Sanyo as it only has 1000 lumens, but then the picture is really amazing.

Sanyo Z4
I am really very satisfied. A great device doesn‘t necessarily have to be expensive.

Weltbest satisfied
I recently bought the device in the bay. It was already used and has a few hours on it. Previously used a Marantz Sp7200. Now that I have set up the Sanyo, my wife and I had an AHA! experience. Since then, the good piece has been in permanent use. Not by me but by my wife. And that‘s saying something if she‘s a fan of electronic things. The only drawback >> The room must/should be dark otherwise it won‘t work. Otherwise I am completely satisfied... again immediately ............

Not the yellow of the egg...
I‘ve had the PLV Z4 for 3 months now. Unfortunately, the projector does not fully meet my expectations. Fly screen is easy to see and the automatic shutter is particularly annoying. You often read that it is hardly noticeable. The fact is, however, that the slow movement of the shutter can be seen in every dark scene.
I can‘t really recommend the device.

Super device.
This projector makes a great picture. The weak point here is not the projector, but the PAL standard in which the DVD is recorded. Black level, sharpness etc. are to my complete satisfaction. I can absolutely recommend the device. I would buy it again at any time.

Simply brilliant...
The projector exceeds my expectations. With a little adjustment here and there, the picture is very high-contrast, very sharp and vivid. The iris diaphragm does a good job...with little residual light you get a super black level! You can only hear it (although I have it right next to the sofa) if you switch off the sound. It doesn‘t really get any better than that. The only thing I‘m missing is a second digital input (e.g. DVI in addition to HDMI)...otherwise: TOP! I would buy it again at any time
Achja...the replacement lamp has become much cheaper in the meantime. I‘ve seen them for around 280 €!!! This reduces the operating costs considerably!

LCD goes DLP - the Z4 knows how to inspire
Who would have thought that Sanyo could follow up the popular Z3 like this? The Z4 retains all the great features and goes one better in terms of sharpness, contrast, color fastness and black. An impressive leap forward that finally brings LCD within DLP reach. Be sure to take a look. The Sanyo Z4 knows how to inspire.
