The SLM G8 Executive model is a DLP projector from Barco, intended for Event applications, offering 8000 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 500:1 at XGA 1024 x 768. The runtime of the lamp in this model is estimated at 500 hours before a replacement is necessary. In terms of image alignment, the model offers an optical lens shift function, allowing the image to be shifted on the projection surface without any loss of quality. The specifications identify the device as a model with an interchangeable lens option. Matching optional optics allow for exact adaptation to the required image size and projection distance, which can be calculated directly with the Distance Calculator. Looking at practical performance, up to 779 cm can be illuminated with 8000 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 519 cm. Should very large projection surfaces be required, the integrated edge-blending software offers the possibility to seamlessly combine images from multiple projectors without visible seams. The projector was released in 2002 and is officially no longer distributed by Barco. Important maintenance note: It is no longer possible to procure replacement lamps for this model.
