A look at the light output reveals: The 1000 ANSI lumens are sufficient to illuminate an image width of up to 275 cm in darkened rooms. If room light is present, we recommend not exceeding a maximum width of 183 cm. This model dates back to 2001 and is no longer part of Nec's current product range.

I‘ve owned the VT540 for about a year now. I was completely satisfied with it so far - because I got it used on ebay for 20€ :)!!!
After a year in my bedroom (home theater system with 7.1 surround system), the lamp is suddenly extremely dark, probably due to the last cleaning. Does anyone know about this?

I just downloaded the manual, because the VT 540 is borrowed !!!
The only thing that might make this device tired is a fall from 2m height ???
After 6 years that doesn‘t necessarily have to be !!!
Had the device often as a safety reserve in the trunk, and saved some organizers the lecture !!!! The last time 3 days ago ( and I wanted to leave it at home first ) !!!
When using TV / DVD take a good S-Video or VGA cable !!!
As with Dennis !!! Absolutely recommendable

Absolutely recommendable
I have owned a VT540 for 1 year. This is my third projector and I have to say it‘s by far the best. It has never let me down.
I only know of the advantages so far:
1. very bright
2. nice contrast and very good black level. (The newer models no longer offer this quality)
3. absolutely easy to operate
4. there is a compartment in the projector for the remote control
5. excellent keystone control (when a projector is not shining completely straight onto the wall or screen)
6. perfect resolution
7. good selection of connections
Since I am so satisfied with this device, I thought I should publish my experience with it.
Conclusion: Absolutely recommendable!!!
