Equipped with LCD technology, the Nec VT48 offers 1600 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 600:1 and is designed as a versatile projector. According to Nec, the lamp has a durability of 3000 hours. A look at the light output reveals: The 1600 ANSI lumens are sufficient to illuminate an image width of up to 348 cm in darkened rooms. If room light is present, we recommend not exceeding a maximum width of 232 cm. This model dates back to 2005 and is no longer part of Nec's current product range. This model continues to hold a solid place in our database search queries.

I have just discovered my own entry from 2006 by chance in the forum and had to smile. So I‘ve had the VT 48 for almost 6 years now and I‘m still satisfied. Thanks to Eco mode, I still have 60% lamp time left, so it should last at least another 6 years. It has never had any faults, for the original price of 578 euros including screen, it provides a top picture and still looks good. A small white unit mounted under the ceiling simply looks better than most of the black boxes you can buy. Another 5 out of 5 stars for the VT 48. Look for a quiet fan noise when buying a projector...in addition to a good picture, I think this is super important if you use it at home and don‘t always turn up the sound system. And it really is quiet.

Trapetzkorrektur
Hello everyone
Maybe I want to get the VT48. Target ceiling projection, slightly angled, at 2.7m distance via video cinch cable. - Loss of quality - I know!
Question: Does the trap correction also work with the video cinch signal?
This is not clear from the data available to me.
A short answer would be very nice!!!
Greetings to the community...

very good price/performance ratio
I bought the vt48 for less than 400 euros on ebay as a discontinued model.
and for the fact that the device gets such bad reviews in professional forums, I have to say that I am relatively enthusiastic about the picture quality, the volume of the device and, last but not least, the design of the housing.
I operate the projector directly via a laptop using a vga cable. as a result, the device really delivers a top picture (for this price range).
there are drawbacks for the lack of zoom, which makes the setup/positioning a little inflexible.
I would buy it again

Very good price/performance ratio
The NEC Beamer VT48/G is a very good projector for its price with a quiet fan and a really very good picture for a home theater.
The ECO mode is only to be recommended because with this setting you get a good picture which is hardly distinguishable from the normal mode, so all in all a great projector for a good price.

NEC VT48G
I had actually decided on an Acer XD1150 as I found the DLP technology more convincing in terms of image display!
Unfortunately, the new Acer device broke down twice within a week, i.e. it had to be exchanged twice!
This of course put me off the XD1150 for the time being, so I quickly decided to go for the NEC and paid a few euros more!
I‘m quite happy with the new one except for the poorer black levels!
Extremely quiet fan, long lamp life (in Eco Mode) and really good colors!
Caution: the Acer XD1150 is advertised as having an ECO mode, but it doesn‘t have one at all!

HELP!!!!
Bought the device especially for the World Cup... worked great too... great device, only yesterday a malfunction occurred somehow!
When the projector is started, it immediately shows a freeze image... I can‘t get rid of this by pressing the corresponding button... the strange thing is that after a while it jumps to the next freeze image... like a slide show, but very slowly... does anyone have an idea... I‘m desperate....and the technical hotline of NEC is only available again on Mon morning...
Thanks
Justus

@Eclipse2000
Hi,
have you mistyped your price? That would be a really great price for both. I paid €599.00 for my projector without the screen, which is really not a bad price for such a projector considering the fact that the devices were initially offered for €799.00. Which screen was included, I mean type and size?

Review of the NEC VT48
Hello...
I‘ve owned the NEC VT48 for a week now, at 578 euros including a NOBO screen as a set at Metro, in my opinion an incredibly low price for June 2006, just before the World Cup.
I had a Sony projector for many years, which now had a defect and was no longer worth repairing. It used to cost almost 6,000 DM. (VPL-CS1) And I can only say that the NEC is better in every respect. The picture is razor sharp, bright (even in ECO mode), this projector is incredibly quiet, so you really can‘t hear it at all
It can be ceiling-mounted, is suitable for rear projection, can recognize and reproduce any format, the only thing missing is probably HD-Ready, but nobody is currently broadcasting that at all...
All in all I am super satisfied, at this price I would never have expected such a good device, absolutely recommended for home cinema.

Pure home theater feeling!!!
Hello Maurizio,
I also bought one of these projectors a few weeks ago and am very happy with it. I can only agree with the previous speaker!!!
So far I‘ve always watched in dark rooms, because only then can you really enjoy the picture. Personally, I‘ve never watched in daylight... I just say to myself that if you want to watch TV in bright light, for example, it‘s not a hit either, as the daylight is reflected on the TV...

nec 48 g
Hello I am very interested in this device, but I have a question can this device also be used in bright rooms where you can‘t darken it? is the picture quality still good then, I have had bad experiences with other projectors, you could only watch in the evening. Thank you in advance for your quick reply

Review of the NEC VT48G
I recently bought the new NEC VT48G. I have had several projectors before, including one with a true XGA resolution. I have to say that the picture from the Nec is much cleaner than the XGA projector, although the resolution is lower at 800x600. This is certainly due to the fact that NEC has been around for over 100 years and offers very well developed projectors with the latest technology. Conclusion: A SUPER projector for the home theater at home and unbeatable in price at just 799 euros. Anyone who wants a real home theater should buy this projector. Simply SUPER CLASS !!!
