The equipment of the Epson EMP TW700 projector includes 1600 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 10000:1 with a HDTV 1280 x 720 display. According to Epson, the lamp has a durability of 1700 hours. For distortion-free image alignment, the projector offers both a lens shift function and keystone correction. The amount of leeway the lens provides can be checked in the Projection Calculator. Regarding projection size, the value of 1600 ANSI lumens allows for an image width of up to 406 cm in darkened environments. In rooms with ambient light, the image width should be correspondingly reduced to a maximum of 271 cm. For media input, video signals up to 1080P are supported. This model dates back to 2006 and is no longer part of Epson's current product range. As an archive device, the projector remains highly relevant in our database.
The device has been running for several years without any problems. It has never let me down and is still a top projector for DVDs or PC applications. It impresses with its brilliant color reproduction and sufficient light for rooms that are not too dark. Unfortunately, ECO mode cannot be set in dynamic mode, but even then it is not disturbingly loud. I still use the TW 700 occasionally alongside other projectors and have to say that it runs like new if you look after it. Color space, illumination and sharpness are absolutely clean where comparable devices cannot keep up. The contrast is just enough to give it a good black level with the somewhat annoying automatic shutter. All in all, I have to say that the 700 is one of my favorite devices in my collection and is simply a must for every beginner or old enthusiast. :)

good HD ready projector
Epson is a good company and this EMP TW 700 projector is really a very good product, and meanwhile there are good used ones quite cheaply on ebay or wherever.
But I would rather take the Panasonic PT AX 100/200 because it has even more and better setting options and a slightly better picture quality to offer.and the remote control of the Panasonic is well illuminated.in retrospect it is a matter of taste as always.one prefers to drive a BMW the other a Benz but both are top class.

For Games:
Moin Sven,
I‘ve had the projector for 2 years now and am very satisfied, you can use it for gaming without any problems. During the day, I would recommend playing your games on the monitor or TV (we bought double curtains to be able to darken the room during the day).
Have fun
P.S.
Have a PS3 connected via HDMI

Conditionally recommended
I have recently become the proud owner of this projector.
The successful mother-of-pearl white finish combined with the extravagant design looks very impressive in the living room. A simple, backlit remote control provides a clear overview from the very first glance. I watched a Bluray on the very first evening and was really impressed by the quality (especially the cinema filter). The superb black level only really comes to the fore in a completely darkened room. You should make sure that there is little light resonance from the walls. I used a Samsung Bluray player from the lower price range and got the most satisfactory picture quality by feeding in a 1080i signal. A really razor-sharp picture and no streaks or fringing effects can be seen. The color accuracy and crystal-clear contrast really knock your socks off. In the Cinema 1 and Cinema 2 settings, the projector reduces the noise level, places an extra internal filter in front of the lens and reduces the noise level to a pleasant 26db. Dynamic mode is the best choice for presentations and daytime projection. Here the image is clearly visible even in full daylight. For this mode, there is a special external filter specifically for this projector, which brings the slightly alienated color scale back into balance. In addition, there are various separate setting options such as gamma correction, skin tones, contrast or color strength for those who like to experiment.
If you should decide on a projector in this price range, you can‘t go past the Epson EMP TW700.
Best regards
Olli

Future-proof?
I‘m thinking about buying this projector. I‘m sure I‘ll want to use it to watch HD movies in the future. That‘s why the CHIP quote makes me a little thoughtful:
Only the jerkiness with 24p playback should make owners of a Blu-ray player reach for the alternative. Has anyone had experience with this? And is 24p playback the standard?
Thank you!

My first projector
Since I didn‘t look at any other projectors before I bought it, I don‘t know how the Epson compares. According to test reports, it must be one of the best projectors under 1000 EUR at the moment. It is definitely sharp - much sharper than my CRT. Beautiful colors. No missing pixels. Quick to set up. Cools down quickly (30 seconds). I‘m not happy with the black/contrast in the picture, but that‘s more down to the attic room at the moment, where the ceiling, walls and carpet are white. This increases the brightness in the room through the projection to such an extent that the matt white cheap canvas becomes too bright: the result is a somewhat dull image. However, a gray DIY screen or possibly a Dynaclear is already planned. The lens feels very solid. However, the operation of the lens shift wheels is too imprecise. If you use the lens shift as far as it will go, the brightness at the edges decreases slightly and the geometry suffers minimally, but the sharpness is still very good. What bothers me about the projector is that both the fan and the iris are far too loud. I can only tolerate the knocking motorized iris when it‘s switched off (unfortunately you can‘t select an opening degree) and the fan only in Eco mode. But even in Eco mode, the fan is still quite loud and blows a lot of hot air into the room. After two hours of watching a movie, the whole room smells of hot electronics. The fan control also has a fault: sometimes the speed does not adapt to the mode - e.g. when switching from Dynamic to Theater Black 2 (fan then runs too loudly). The device is three to four times larger than the projectors in the EUR 500 class - a bit big for my taste. No compatibility problems with the computer (Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H via HDMI), everything worked straight away. The projector comes with detailed instructions on CD only. A final tip: For SD material, install the ffdshow filter software and use it together with Media Player Classic to get even more out of the projector with the powerful ffdshow filters. Especially the sharpness filter of ffdshow and the luminance/gamma settings of ffdshow go far beyond the possibilities in the projector menu.

Difference to TW 680
I‘ve done a bit of searching on the Internet and have heard that the TW 700 only differs from the TW 700 in terms of appearance. Can anyone tell me if this is true or what the differences are?
Thanks in advance,
Mfg Hannes

simply stunning
After a long search and endless practical comparisons, I‘ve now been the happy owner of the Epson EMP-TW 700 for a few weeks. For me, it‘s the best the market currently has to offer for this price. I can only recommend the device to everyone.

Price performance TOP
Bought the device from Screenmaxx a few days ago. At first I was actually interested in the Sony VPL AW15. Unfortunately, it was a bit too dark for my taste, so a salesperson recommended the Epson EMP-TW700. And rightly so, the device copes very well with residual light and still has a good black level and contrast. My recommendation !
Since I bought the device in the Tauschrausch promotion, I only end up paying 899 euros ! Currently unrivaled for the price.

I‘m positively surprised
It‘s amazing what progress is possible with LCD projectors. Apart from the slightly annoying fan noise of the projector, I am very pleased with the display of the colors, the contrast, the brightness and the sharpness. The low price of the projector is another plus. The only thing I can‘t understand is how the air filter is attached to the underside of the projector. Cleaning the filter is an adventure for anyone who, like me, uses the projector with a ceiling mount.

the best picture in direct comparison
I was actually a firm believer in Panasonic projectors. However, I have now decided in favor of Epson, as this projector produces the better picture for me. In addition, the lamp is guaranteed for 36 months or 1700 hours.

Zoom factor
For information:
The zoom factor of the TW700 is 2.1!
The TW600 still had 1.5!
