Based on LCD technology, the Epson EH-TW5400 projects images in a Homecinema environment, with technical specs listing 2500 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 30000:1 and a HDTV 1920 x 1080 resolution. The manufacturer lists the lamp life at 4500 hours. With two hours of daily operation, this corresponds to a period of 6.2 years. For basic image adjustment, the device is equipped with horizontal and vertical keystone correction, allowing digital compensation for trapezoidal distortion at angled projection setups. Looking at practical performance, up to 508 cm can be illuminated with 2500 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 339 cm. Regarding signal processing, the model is compatible with incoming 1080P content as well as 3D. The built-in HDMI-MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) port enables screen mirroring from a smartphone while simultaneously charging it. Since entering the market in 2017, production has been discontinued; the manufacturer no longer actively offers the model. This model continues to hold a solid place in our database search queries.

In the beginning I was very enthusiastic about the projector. The 6m projection distance produced a great, bright and sharp picture. Despite the distance to the viewer, it was quite loud when mounted on the ceiling during quiet movies. Only possible to use in Eco mode because it was really loud directly above the viewer
After 750 lamp hours, the lamp flickers. I was told by the hotline that the built-in lamps produce soot in Eco mode. Lamp was replaced under warranty
Replacement lamp is now at just under 500 hours and flickers despite mixed use between Eco and normal mode.
My cheap Acerbeamer has over 10,000 lamp hours on the original lamp and is still running in the playroom. So I can‘t really recommend it in my experience. Soundproofed certainly great, but not so much

Really great for the price
The TW5400 now only costs 550 euros [mid-2019].
It‘s really great for the price - at least for a lot of things.
Personally, the projector is too bright (!) in ECO mode in a completely darkened room, so I use it with an ND6 (2 stops) filter. Because of its high brightness, it is also very suitable for environments with light living room lighting. For nature documentaries (Our Planet, One Strange Rock) and films that are not too dark (e.g. Oblivion), you couldn‘t wish for anything better. 24p also works very well without FI. Adaptive iris diaphragm also pretty good. Top image adjustment options
Weak points:
Black level is sometimes a bit too gray for me. Really dark films (like Watchmen, Batman Dark Night Rises, It,...) are sometimes a bit dark.
Properly saturated red looks more orange than red and although skin tones look very good on the whole, some faces are a bit too reddish for me.

For 699€. Top super picture for games and movies. Fan in eco mode super quiet! Can‘t complain in any way.
