Designed for the Homecinema sector, the EMP S1H model from Epson features 1400 ANSI lumens, a native SVGA 800 x 600 resolution and a contrast ratio of 500:1. The runtime of the lamp in this model is estimated at 2000 hours before a replacement is necessary. Looking at practical performance, up to 326 cm can be illuminated with 1400 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 217 cm. Since entering the market in 2004, production has been discontinued; the manufacturer no longer actively offers the model. However, it remains frequently searched within our database.

Also I bought the EMP-S1H 2 years ago on ebay for 180€, had to put in a new lamp for 185€, and since then it has been running and running without any problems.
Up to now with the 2nd (rebuilt lamp 35€ for new bulb)it has done about 6000 hours.
2010 WM watched on 3m diagonal in the garden, really cool.
I would always buy epson again.

EMP S1H
Stay away from this part (not recommended, even cheaply used), has already seen the workshop in PB during the warranty period. After almost 1 year, again the same DEFECT, but now no more warranty. Cost estimate 60 Euro PLUS 15 Euro PP. Rep. costs are said to be just under 1300 euros
I‘d better buy an Acer X1160 for 299,- which seems to have even better data. they lamp hours 2000 eps. 4000 Acer.
I‘ll never buy Epson products again

Good price-performance ratio
It‘s not a high-end projector, but for standard use it‘s completely ok.
SVGA is not XGA.
Other than that, solid workmanship, good connection options.
Fan a bit loud at full power but not a disturbing factor in save mode as it‘s much quieter.
Brightness in save mode acceptable
Super lamp life.
