Categorized in the Game-Portabel segment, the HW300Y projector from LG projects with a WXGA 1280 x 800 resolution, alongside 300 ANSI lumens and a contrast of 2000:1. Thanks to LED technology, the projector is rated for a lifespan of up to 30000 hours – equivalent to a usable life of 20.5 years at 4 hours a day. Regarding projection size, the value of 300 ANSI lumens allows for an image width of up to 176 cm in darkened environments. In rooms with ambient light, the image width should be correspondingly reduced to a maximum of 117 cm. Also on board is a local media player that allows reading and playing content directly from storage media. Since the projector supports optional DLNA screen mirroring, video signals can also be streamed wirelessly from the end device. This model dates back to 2011 and is no longer part of LG's current product range. However, it remains frequently searched within our database.

The projection is okay. A smaller screen width would result in a brighter image.
I have never seen a 720p projector in this price range with such a fantastic image! I am blown away by the device. The scaling to 16:10 doesnt bother me because I get most of my video material via USB or WLAN. Thumbs up.

Wrong scaling
Can only agree with the above opinions. I will also return the projector. It‘s a shame that LG ignores its customers. Well, LG has always had something against the Germans!

Wrong scaling at 720p
BLAMAGE!!!
The HW300Y distorts the playback of 720p or Blu-ray by scaling up to 800 pixels. So you get BUTTONS when you play HD material
It is therefore unusable for home theater. Requests to LG are ignored.

Contrast
On the new lists only 1000:1 contrast appears. LG hasn‘t responded to my inquiry yet, so it‘s a mystery to me why LG has lowered the contrast on the newer model (compared to HX300G and even HS200G). Judging by the pictures, there is no longer the convenient lens slider to protect the lens - instead, there‘s another crummy cap to put on it.
