Based on LCD technology, the 3M X31i device delivers 2700 ANSI lumens, a resolution of XGA 1024 x 768 and a contrast of 3000:1 as a projector. The manufacturer specifies a runtime of 5000 hours for this projector's lamp – mathematically sufficient for 6.8 years based on two hours of use per day. Looking at practical performance, up to 453 cm can be illuminated with 2700 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 302 cm. For media input, video signals up to 1080P are supported. As an additional feature, an integrated media player enables the direct playback of files without an external source device. For integration into professional environments, an RJ45 connection is available for network control and remote maintenance. Equipped with a microphone jack and built-in speakers (8W), audio signals during presentations can be played back directly without an external audio system. The projector was released in 2012 and is officially no longer distributed by 3M.
