Model Overview A projector from JVC is the DLA X500R, whose 3D-Laser-DILA model delivers 1200 ANSI lumens, a resolution of UHD (4K2K) 3840 x 2160 and a contrast of 60000:1. The manufacturer rates the durability of the included lamp at 4000 hours, achieving a lifespan of 5.5 years when used for 2 hours a day.
An integrated lens shift provides significant leeway for placement. The lens can be adjusted to perfectly align the image even with off-center installations – exact dimensions are provided by the Projection Calculator.
Looking at practical performance, up to 352 cm can be illuminated with 1200 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 235 cm.
For media input, video signals up to 1080P and 4K as well as 3D are supported, meaning standard Blu-ray formats are processed effortlessly. For convenient remote monitoring and administration, the projector is equipped with a classic RJ45 network socket.
A look at the data sheet confirms a very subtle fan noise for the projector at just 20 decibels. This model dates back to 2013 and is no longer part of JVC's current product range. This model continues to hold a solid place in our database search queries.

I am aware that not all X500s have the problems and defects, let alone defects (but unfortunately my new device) or you can‘t see them because you sit further away from the screen than is the case with me.
However, you should know that all that glitters is not gold ;-)

Disappointments:
- CMD (i.e. FI) = must remain switched off as otherwise banding is visible in many films
- MPC -> Brilliant Black = must remain switched off as otherwise double contours are visible
- e-Shift = switched off as the humming at some point at least annoys me and therefore I can‘t play 4K
- Housing cracks several times after 1-2 minutes after changing the lamp mode i.e. from low to high or reversed
- All 4 corners shine very brightly towards the center of the picture and sometimes even visible in movies
- HDMI handshake very very long compared to its predecessor (Sony HW50)
- High-frequency fiping when switched off, i.e. standby (now also in operation) but fortunately only audible when ear near the X500
- Convergence only quite okay after many adjustments but after some time already worse again
- Pixel error = blue pixels can be seen on black background. Fortunately not from the seat. JVC already knows why they define a three-digit number of defective pixels as being within tolerance
- Iris working visibly in places
- Pixel noise which is caused by the control of the D-ILA panels in JVC devices. Unfortunately only found out afterwards

Faults:
- Flickering and even stronger in high mode. Replacing the lamp was not successful. Learned that flickering is not only present with the Sony HW models but also occurs with JVC (I switched from HW50 :-( )
- Iris rattles, i.e. does not work as advertised, noiselessly.
- Tail formation, i.e. overexposure. Example at the beginning of Hobbit or Gravity where the name of the film is in the center of the picture. From the letters it radiates completely to the upper and lower screen frame

I think that‘s enough to make it clear that prospective buyers shouldn‘t let dealers pull the wool over their eyes and think very carefully about what they‘re spending a lot of money on.
Unfortunately I had trusted mine :-(
Although a new device is affected and a JVC representative confirmed the defect on site after some back and forth and futile attempts at adjustment, JVC refuses to exchange it for a faultless new device and I should have it repaired and so what with almost 4000Euro grrrrrrrrr
Unfortunately the dealer also jumped on this scam and so Justitia will have to sort it out.
Anyone who owns a flawless X500 should consider themselves lucky :-)

5 Stars HDMI 3rd part
So, the projector has been running without any problems for 2 weeks now! Dreamlike! I never paid attention to the black level and I have to say that was a mistake! The better the Bluray, the better the picture! I‘m really starting to love this set, despite the fact that JVC wasn‘t supposed to supply anything like this at launch and it was an absolute mess with the HDMI problem! Since the whole line was affected, nobody can tell me that it wasn‘t intentional and that the customer should fix the problem. With the next JVC I‘d rather wait for the second or third update!!!
Achja: Sony will unfortunately have to wait now, with this quality I won‘t be switching any time soon!

5 Stars HDMI 3rd part
So, I‘m reporting back for the third and last time!
After another week with the JVC X500 I‘ve fallen in love. You can forget the statement about Sony from part 1. I won‘t give this dream projector away again! It costs a lot of money, but it‘s worth every penny. I come from the DLP camp and had a 3500€ DLP with a really sharp picture, but the 1500€ surcharge was worth it. Now the picture is not only sharp but also with better colors and a black level that is addictive
From a very good source, the beamer makes a picture that mocks a "real cinema". In short: Love at third sight!
Achja, the two other opinions remain, because they were exactly the same at the time.
From now on 5 points

4 Stars HDMI 2nd part
So, device reconnected and it works.
The errors of the first two hours no longer occur.
2 movies watched and no problems. With the third, Iron man 3, movie after approx. 30 minutes an HDMI connection problem, picture black for 3-5 seconds. No further problems after that. With the new Star Trek, a peak of black in space scenes, sometimes a slightly blurred picture, strangely enough only when Kirk or Spock were in the picture. I have to say that the beamer gets better and better the longer you watch and I get used to the picture.

1 Star HDMI junk
JVC has the cheek to put a projector in the 5000€ price range on the market where almost all devices have problems with HDMI.
Bought on Monday, sent to the workshop on Tuesday and then waited 2 weeks. Not even an apology." I can only advise everyone against JVC! Look around Sony instead! (Like me soon)
