Behind the name ED S3170 is a LCD projector by Hitachi, whose main features include 1700 ANSI lumens, a contrast of 300:1 and a SVGA 800 x 600 resolution. The manufacturer rates the durability of the included lamp at 2000 hours. To compensate for angled projection positions, the model features 2D keystone correction, which digitally corrects trapezoidal distortion. Looking at practical performance, up to 359 cm can be illuminated with 1700 ANSI lumens in dark environments. Once daylight is in the room, the image should ideally be no wider than 239 cm. The projector was released in 2003 and is officially no longer distributed by Hitachi.
