Brief Introduction
 Beta 2.5 |
The Benq PE7700 DLP home cinema projector has 1100 Ansi lumens, a contrast of 2500:1 and an HDTV 1280 x 720 resolution. A picture width of up to 337 cm is possible. However, the picture should be smaller in room light. We recommend max. 225 cm. The projector is very quiet compared to others with 29 decibels of operating noise. The model built in 2005 is no longer offered by Benq, but is still very popular in our projector database.

still (very) good |
|
Have had this projector since 2006 and am completely satisfied. I have often done cross-checks in specialist shops to see if I can get better. Conclusion: better yes, but not prepared to pay a transfer fee of 2000 - 3000 euros for it. Current projectors are not that much better. So if you are looking for a cheap projector and don‘t want to pay too much (Ebay 200 - 300,- Euro used), you should have a look around for the PE7700.

color errors |
|
I bought the model about 2.5 years ago and have used it for about 150 hours so far.
now color errors occur, especially on reflective or glossy surfaces, e.g.
wet faces are displayed in dark green.
the device has already been sent in to benq twice. they confirmed the error, replaced the motherboard twice, but did not solve the problem.
a friend of mine has the same model and also the same problem.
however, the problem only occurred after a fan had been repaired and after approx. 1500 operating hours.
does anyone else have any ideas on how to get this under control?
thx

Re : Still a good projector |
|
The Optoma HD800X is only audibly louder than the BenQ PE 7700 in 1080p/60Hz or 1080i/30Hz mode, otherwise just the same.
The HD800X also has an advantage over the PE 7700 with SD feeds due to a significantly better (because sharper) lens, but this is partly at the expense of a more visible image noise.
Otherwise, the HD800X is superior to the PE 7700 in all respects - better black level, better contrast, brighter picture thanks to 300W lamp, significantly better picture sharpness, no (!) false contour, 24p support, 3 digital inputs, RBE even less visible thanks to 7-segment color wheel with 6x speed.
Only the above-mentioned volume and the very limited installation flexibility of the HD800X are a disadvantage compared to the PE 7700.

Lamp broken 3 times |
|
Hy! I had the projector once too. My lamp was defective 3 times in 5 months or flickered. Then they gave me the Sharp DT-510 in exchange. Picture just as good and no problems. No lagging with fast movements either.

good price/performance projector |
|
I bought one of the first BenQ PE 7700 projectors in Germany (firmware May 20, 2005 version 0.37.A00). Due to lens damage, it was exchanged for a replacement unit after 1/2 year (firmware July 21, 2005 version 0.44.A00). The lamp ran for approx. 400 hours on the 1st unit and approx. 1450 hours on the 2nd unit without any problems in conjunction with a Pioneer DV-868AVi-S via HDMI - also without any problems.
The projector was the best price/performance HD DLP projector alongside the Toshiba MT-700 when it was released, but (unfortunately) you can mainly see False Contour.
RBE and dithering are hardly noticeable if you consider DLP projectors. Due to numerous lamp bursts, this projector did not exactly have the best reputation.

I‘ve had the projector hanging on my ceiling in the living room since Christmas, and I have to say it has a top picture and no problems, HDMI works 100%, for me the best DLP projector.

Picture |
|
I have now reconnected the projector to the denon dvd-3930 via hmdi, thus ensuring the best possible picture feed. the denon player has one of the best scalers on the market and the picture is still distorted when the camera pans quickly. this projector can therefore only be used for slow-moving pictures.

Optimal Equipment |
|
I landed here by chance. Lucky the lucky one. For over a year (1600 hours) PE7700 with 15 meters HDMI on the Denon 3910, not a dry eye remains with joy. All parameters have been tested with AVEC-DVD and are 99% optimal. There is no sign of motion blur or anything similar. This still remains the hammer DLP.
@meier: there is less quality. But not more for the money of the 7700. In any case, eye damage can be ruled out as long as the DLP is alive.

Bad picture and problems with Pioneer DV-868 and 686 |
|
Have had the projector for a few weeks now. Full of anticipation, I connected my reference player from Pioneer, DV-868AVi via HDMI. What can I say, no picture. I contacted the Benq service center and they replaced the device 4 times. The same thing over and over again. Until a high-end specialist told me that it was the DVD player. He gave me a tip on how to get a picture from the projector via HDMI. Lo and behold, it worked. But what I then saw was really not very good. When the camera pans quickly, faces and objects are totally distorted or distorted. Unfortunately you can‘t get a handle on that! Or do any of you have an answer as to how this can be remedied? Otherwise, the PE7700 takes a wonderful picture. I‘ve already had a few. But in terms of picture, it‘s a top device. The only thing that bothers me is the distorted picture when the camera pans quickly.

BENQ 7700 HDMI input is not recognized |
|
HI, have the above beamer
The HDMI input only recognizes it under certain resolutions
I am sure of 1280x720 but there are also lower resolutions that it likes
I have the problem that I only connect the computer and many
programs do not offer a suitable 16 to 9 resolution,
anyone have any ideas?
And does the picture flicker every now and then for anyone else?
Greetings, Zyklop

mediocre projector |

I have a 1500 dvd player and a cable for 400 hdmi connected to the projector and have a very bad picture with fast images, the same constellation dvd player and cable connected to other projectors I get a better picture, which clearly proves that the problem lies with benq....

Simply awesome |
|
I‘ve had my PE7700 for about 5 months now and approx. 800 hours of playback
The PE7700 is just great and I enjoy the
good picture every day. No trace of problems. Even with fast camera pans
always a 1a picture. That‘s why I can‘t understand some of the complaints made here. Of course, you shouldn‘t attach a €29 player to a
projector like this, or even
operate it via cheap connections. Still my first choice and certainly no comparison to an
LCD projector. I have never regretted the purchase.

bad picture |
|
meier is right, the pe7700 has a problem with fast camera pans and to thomas: you can also switch the dvd-player to interlaced output even with hdmi, the dvd-player does not necessarily have to do this job. with my pe7700 the projector has a problem whether interlaced or progr. playback. i have connected cheaper projectors to my dvd player and had a better picture, so i can confirm that the pe7700 is not as good as some people think or hope.

Meier probably likes to write reviews, home cinema and other trade journals have not rated this big problem badly either (according to Mayer)! Deinterlacing is done by the Denon 3910 Mr. Mayer, not the projector !!! Mayer certainly has an LCD projector

|
I connected the pe7700 to the denon dvd-3910 via hdmi (oehlbach). Ive already tested dozens of projectors and the pe7700 has a very poor image with rapid movements. Ive seen better with cheaper projectors.
If youre satisfied with the pe770, you either cant see well anymore or youre just satisfied with little quality.

Reaction to dialog Pam/Padme |
|
Hello,
I want to buy the beamer this week at Mediastar in a package so that I finally have a cinema at home. So that I don‘t experience the disappointments of Pam/Padme ( ... a big thank you for describing the problems), I will have the projector unpacked and connected by the dealer before I buy it. After all, these things cost a lot and should work 100% the first time you switch them on. I am still a little unsure about the descriptions on other Internet sites, according to which the projector lamp of the PE7700 already causes problems after 2 months of operation. Are there any other tips that I should clarify with Mediastar BEFORE buying? Grateful for any response ...

merci for the tip, i‘m now hoping for the new hd-dvds, so hopefully this problem will no longer exist. i have the beamer connected via hdmi, only the tv signal comes via the bnc socket, but even there the tickers stumble from time to time and it wasn‘t like that with the old beamer, same signal same connection old beamer picture ok and with the benq problems with fast movements. does anyone know when the blue-ray and hd-dvds will finally come onto the ch market?

Note for Pam |
|
Have you connected the projector and the Denon with Hdmi cable? If so, it may also be due to the DVDs. The older the device, the worse the picture (Heat). I also had to take note of this. To answer your question, please take a look at the website www.cine4home.de and read the test report on the Toshiba mt700, which is identical to ours. I also have the 3910 and have to say that the picture in movies like Madagascar or Sin City is awesome.

New device has arrived. |
|
So, now the new device has arrived, but it wasn‘t the projector but the DVD player DV-868 from Pioneer has a problem with the projector via HDMI.
Now I‘ve bought the Denon 3910 DVD player and the projector works with it via HDMI, but I have to say that although everyone praises the line doubler from the Benq and the Denon, the picture is worse than before with my old projector, the Infocus 4805, when the camera pans quickly. Scrolling texts on TV programs bump from time to time and the picture is completely distorted, pixelated, blurred, out of focus, etc. when watching movies, that was never so bad with the 4805, the flickering was already there but the fact that the whole picture is completely distorted is surprising, especially since these are expensive devices and the latest state of the art.
If anyone has a tip on what I can do to improve the picture during fast movements, I‘d be happy to receive it, otherwise the picture is tip-top with calm pictures.
Greetings

BenQ 7700 |
|
Hello Pam! I‘m glad that at least you had the courage to comment on this topic. I would therefore like to thank you and also encourage you. After another consultation with my dealer, I was able to exchange the projector and lo and behold, the new one has neither problems with Hdmi nor is the blurred picture a problem, so I assume that we both just had bad luck with a bad series. I hope you have the same luck when your new BenQ is in your home.

Device Deffect |

Hello,
I had the same problem, received the device yesterday and when I connect the projector to the HDMI, it shows no picture but the message: HMDI Unsupported.
For a projector of this class and all the good tests already very disappointing, now I have to replace the projector and wait without having seen a picture of it, so I can‘t rate the picture yet.

BenQ 7700 |
|
Must give vent to my heart. I‘ve had the PE7700 for two weeks now and have had nothing but trouble with it. Firstly, it can‘t find the HDMI connection! It only finds it when I disconnect it completely from the mains and reconnect it. WHAT IS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE? Secondly, the picture is great but only as long as there are no fast camera pans, because then it is not only blurred but also more than blurry. In other words, I am disappointed with this projector. After all the great reviews in countless magazines (Home Cinema, AudioVision etc.) I thought I had bought THE projector, but my experience to date has been anything but that. Despite repeated consultation with my specialist salesman, I could not be helped, so my request is that if anyone has had the same difficulties and has been able to help themselves, please let me know on this page. I would be very grateful.

Great cinema |
|
I bought the PE7700 a week ago and am really happy with it. The 2m wide picture is very good. Natural colors, very homogeneous. Very bright enough for screens over
3m. Screen is not even visible from a distance of 1m. Also very quiet (I‘m sitting 50 cm away and don‘t feel disturbed (eco 21.5dB). I use eco because it is completely sufficient for the size of the screen. And another argument: durability
Bought it from a large dealer. In any case, choose a specialist dealer.
